The ICT for Life Sciences Forum is pleased to announce that RMIT University has joined the Forum as a sponsor. The Forum was established in October 2008 with its key objective to inform and inspire the community about the exciting developments taking place at the convergence between engineering and biology and the opportunities for improving human health and well being.

According to Dr Elaine Saunders, of RMIT University’s College of Science, Engineering and Health the Forum plays an important role in establishing links across the disciplines.

“RMIT University is delighted to have the opportunity to be involved in the ICT for Life Sciences Forum,” Dr Saunders said. “We believe it’s an excellent opportunity for new and established researchers from engineering and life sciences research to communicate to the wider community in this most important and fast developing field.

“The University has a strong belief in the value that can come from the convergence of disciplines and it has recently brought together its engineering, science and health disciplines under a singe college to reflect this.

“We’re excited by the Forum’s capacity to reinforce relationships across the disciplines. Our sponsorship of the Forum will further assist it to meet its goals,” she said.

The RMIT University sponsorship builds on the Forum’s activities over the past 18 months and will strengthen its impact.

The Forum’s convenor Luan Ismahil welcomes RMIT’s support for the ICT for Life Sciences Forum.

“It is very pleasing that the University shares the Forum’s goals and aspirations,” Mr Ismahil said. "It stands to make important contributions to research and training across engineering and the life sciences.”

“As a sponsor-supported initiative, we are very grateful for the confidence the University has in working with the Forum’s other sponsors to promote knowledge and generate innovation that builds on Melbourne’s world class medical and life sciences research capability,” he said.
