In support of National Science Week 2011, NICTA’s Victoria Research Laboratory will hold a Health Discovery Day, showcasing the Lab’s health research.
Featured research will include:
• the advanced electronics behind the (Australian) Bionic eye;
• software tracking cells through microscopic images to extract
biologically relevant information;
• software identifying primary tumours using gene measurements;
• software searching for combinations of changes in DNA which are linked to disease;
• software reconstructing DNA after it has been sequenced;
• a tour of the Terabit Networking Laboratory to view project demonstrations.
The public is invited to visit the Laboratory, on the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus on Tuesday, 16 August (two sessions) and secondary schools are invited to bring students to the Laboratory on Monday, 15 August (two sessons).
