Fulbright recipient to focus on bionic eye
Dr Wicks, who completed his PhD studies under a scholarship awarded by the Victoria Research Laboratory of NICTA, will further the work of the laboratory, which is collaborating with the Centre for Eye Research Australia, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and the Bionic Ear Institute to develop a "bionic" eye.
Byron was a member of the team that recently developed the world’s first integrated Gigabit Wireless transceiver that operates at 60 GHz on CMOS. (Click here to view the first demonstration of this technology). Byron recently completed his PhD, titled "Design and Analysis of Millimeter-Wave Power Amplifiers".
Byron completed his BE (Hons) and BSc degrees at the University of Melbourne. He was previously awarded a Universitas 21 scholarship to study the issues involved in the commercialisation of technology at the National University of Singapore. He was previously chosen to participate in the University of Melbourne’s Student Ambassador and Leadership Program. Byron has been awarded several best student paper prizes throughout his studies undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
